Congratulations on the publishing of the Gay Peoples Chronicle. Your efforts help to guarantee the continued security and growth of the Lesbian and bay Community and Movement. A healthy and accurate Communication link is what gives every minority group the tool it needs to stay informed, to stay proud and to stay alive. The long hours which will be demanded
of the staff of the GPC will never be adequately rewarded with money. Be assured, however, that you have the gratitude of countless numbers of people whose lives you will affirm and enrich.

I am writing about a service that is offered through the regional Council on Alcoholise by a student intern and a SASS graduate. This is a support group for gay males who are recovering from chemical dependency or feel that drugs/alcohol are causing problems in their lives. As some of you may know, alcoholism runs very high in the gay population, whose members seem four to five times more likely to abuse chemicals/alcohol than the nongay population.
Because so few services are offered to the gay person, we have designed a support group that can help gay men recover from dependency on drugs/alcohol. This group is very inexpensive compared to other quality services that may be obtained through professional agencies that say not know how to work effectively with gay clients.
If you or someone you know could benefit from this group, please offer your support and show vour care for that person.
Then suggest a comfortable place for them to speak freely about their issues and gain support from others who are also recovering from alcoholism or drug addiction one day at a time.
A special word to our lesbian population: We are planning to open a support group for you, but need to have our men's group running first. If you would be interested in taking part when we begin a lesbian group, please feel free to contact me by mail or phone.
If you have any suggestions for either of our groups, please contact me.
Hen seets Thursdays at 7:30 in the lakewood The Gay Support Group for Recovering area. The cost is $5.00 per group (subject to change). Call or write lin, c/o Support Group, Regional Council on Alcoholisa, 3101 Euclid Avenue, Suite 707, Cleveland, Ohio 44115. Phone 391-5805.

The Editor would personally like to single out Rob Daroff and Mark Kroboth, whose contributions far outweigh their published credits. He would also like to thank three persons, not involved in this issue, who set standards for gay journalism we hope to live up to: Leon Stevens, John Nosek, and Matt Phillips. The Board thanks David Boyd, Richard Tomei, and Alexx Christopher for hours spent at a computer typing copy; and Julian Wilde, for letting us invade his office.
